Job Description

Windsor pays a bit better than the rest of Berkshire and there's an honest reason for it: the Castle is a working royal residence, the Long Walk pulls visitors through the town in waves, and a fair number of our clients live in Georgian or large detached houses that take longer to clean than a 1980s semi. We're hiring part time domestic cleaners in Windsor at £14 to £16 an hour, paid weekly, on regular fortnightly rounds across SL4 and the Old Windsor and Datchet edges.

That's the answer. The rest of this is the small print.

Where the work actually sits

Most of our Windsor rota falls into four bands: Central Windsor inside SL4 1, Old Windsor south on the A308 toward the Runnymede side, Datchet just over the railway, and the riverside flats by the Thames at Windsor Riverside and along Barry Avenue. We do not currently take on the country estates around Windsor Great Park.

What the pay actually is

£14 to £16 an hour. Where you sit on the band depends on the property type and how the round groups together. A two hour maintenance clean on a central Windsor flat is usually paid at the lower end because the round can fit three or four jobs in a morning with little travel between them. A larger detached in Old Windsor or a bigger Datchet house sits higher up the band because the floor area is genuinely bigger and the time on the road between jobs is real.

Bank transfer, every Friday.

We pay weekly because monthly is annoying when you're new and waiting on a first wage.

Getting around without a car

You can do most of the central Windsor patch on foot or by bus. The two stations sit five minutes apart in the town. Windsor & Eton Riverside on Datchet Road runs South Western services to London Waterloo. Windsor & Eton Central, behind the Castle on Thames Street, runs the Great Western shuttle to Slough where you connect onto the Elizabeth line. If you live in Slough, Maidenhead or anywhere along the Reading to Paddington corridor, the commute is straightforward.

For the wider rota a car helps, especially for Datchet and Old Windsor. Reading Buses run the 8 between Maidenhead and Heathrow via Windsor and Datchet, and First Berkshire's 702 covers the Legoland-and-Bracknell direction. If you don't drive, we'll keep your rota mostly inside SL4 1 and SL4 2 around the bus spine.

Parking, and a few honest quirks

Windsor is a parking borough. The Royal Borough operates resident permit zones across most of central Windsor, and the visitor pressure from the Castle and Legoland makes the High Street area a place you really cannot be hunting for a space at 9 am on a Saturday in August. We give you a digital MiPermit code where the client pays for it, and we'll let you know straight when a job is a walk from the station one.

There is one Windsor specific quirk worth knowing: when there's a Royal event at the Castle or a major service at St George's Chapel, the centre goes into temporary road closures with very little notice, and the obvious park and walk routes off Park Street and Sheet Street stop working. We text the day before if your round needs a different approach.

Legoland is also a factor seven months a year. The resort runs from mid March through to the end of October on its main season, and on bank holiday weekends the A308 and the B3022 back up well past the Imperial Road junction. If you're driving the Old Windsor and Datchet end of the round, leave 15 minutes earlier on bank holidays in season and you'll be fine.

Who we're after
  • You've cleaned before, paid or seriously domestic. We are not training from zero on this round.
  • You can do at least three weekday mornings, ideally four, between roughly 9 am and 2 pm.
  • You text the night before if a job needs to move. Rebooks we manage. No shows we cannot.
  • Right to work paperwork on day one. ID and a recent utility bill bring with you.

What we do not ask for: a CV, a covering letter, or references in triplicate.

The end of tenancy bit

A meaningful slice of the Windsor work comes through the letting agents on the High Street. Hamptons at 52 High Street and Savills opposite the Castle send through the steadier end of tenancy bookings, and Hardings, the local independent on Thames Street, is where most of the smaller landlord work originates. Redwoods of Old Windsor handles the SL4 2 properties further out toward the Runnymede road. End of tenancy is tight window work, usually a single day between tenants, and it pays at the upper end of the band because of that.
