Job Description

It's a brilliant time to join ARAG Law. We're growing our friendly, high-performing Employment Law team and are looking for a Paralegal who's keen to learn and take real ownership of cases with the support of experienced colleagues.

About the team:

We advise both employees and employers across the full range of employment law. That could be helping an employee with an unfair dismissal or unpaid wages claim or supporting an employer in defending whistleblowing or discrimination proceedings. Alongside litigation, we also provide practical HR advisory support, drafting contracts and policies, and guiding businesses through day-to-day employment law requirements.

About the role:

As an Employment Paralegal, you'll be collating evidence from clients and then preparing advice on merits which will set out their chances of successfully pursuing or defending the claim. As you build experience, you'll support litigated employment matters under the supervision of a Senior Associate with a view to taking on your own litigated files (with appropriate oversight) and develop into a confident case handler, running matters end to end.

  • Drafting clear, practical advice letters and client updates
  • Preparing case documents and bundles for tribunal
  • Liaising with opponents, tribunals and other external parties
  • Instructing counsel and supporting preparation for hearings
  • Negotiating and progressing matters towards resolution where appropriate

No two days are the same! You'll learn alongside a highly skilled team with a wealth of experience, strong supervision, and plenty of opportunity to grow, including being encouraged to take on new tasks as your confidence develops.

This role is a great fit if you're starting your legal career and have a genuine interest in Employment Law, whilst looking for structured exposure to casework and a clear pathway to becoming a full case handler managing matters from start to finish.

If you have some experience in dealing with Employment Law then we'd love to hear from you, but you don't need to tick every box to apply - if you can show transferable skills and a willingness to learn, we'd be excited to receive your application.

What you'll bring
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain legal concepts in a clear, client-friendly way
  • Confidence speaking with a range of external parties (clients, opponents and tribunals)
  • Good organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Resilience and professionalism. Some matters can be sensitive, and you'll support clients who may be vulnerable
  • A genuine interest in Employment Law and a proactive approach to learning
Nice to have (not essential)
  • A law degree (or equivalent) and/or progress towards further legal qualifications
  • Any previous experience in a legal, customer service or advice-giving environment

We'll support you with supervision, feedback and on-the-job learning so you can build confidence quickly and progress your career. If you'd like to grow your employment law experience in a supportive team with real responsibility and development opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.
