Location: Wantage, Oxfordshire
Qualification: BSc (Hons) Chemical Science (Part time, distance learning)

An exciting opportunity is available for a Packaging Sciences Apprentice to join a well established R&D centre in Wantage, supporting packaging, materials and product assessment while studying towards a part time Chemical Science BSc (Hons) with Manchester Metropolitan University.

This hands on role is ideal for someone passionate about chemistry, materials science and applied laboratory work, offering real industry experience alongside academic study.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting packaging, materials and product testing within an R&D laboratory environment
• Preparing, packing and testing food containers to industry standards
• Carrying out analytical and investigative laboratory techniques (e.g. microscopy, chromatography, spectroscopy, thermal analysis)
• Recording, analysing and reporting technical data with clear conclusions
• Managing samples, documentation and traceability using IT systems
• Working collaboratively across R&D, customer and factory support activities

What we're looking for:

Essential

• Minimum 104 UCAS points (BCC) at A-level or equivalent, including Chemistry
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good IT skills (MS Office)
• Ability to balance work commitments with academic study
• A proactive, reliable team player with good time management
• Commitment to safe working and continuous learning

Desirable

• Experience in food packaging, food production, laboratories or analytical chemistry
