OVERVIEW

The primary purpose of the Packing Department Manager (White Sugar) is to safely and hygienically manage cost-efficient packing of all products within the White Sugar Packing Department, ensuring quality and quantity targets are met to satisfy customer and marketing requirements.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage safety, hygiene, environment, and quality in accordance with T&L Sugars Management Systems to promote continuous improvement.
  • Achieve high OEE at minimum cost by managing packing operations and support resources effectively, focusing on changeover processes, reducing downtime, and addressing root causes of performance issues.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met for planned production orders and product availability for shipment.
  • Coordinate with the Packing Maintenance Department Manager to develop maintenance and spares strategies that improve OEE.
  • Maintain service level relationships with support functions such as Refining, Quality, and Purchasing.
  • Develop and review the organizational structure and personnel to meet business needs.
  • Control packing costs and manage budgets.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Planning to optimize supply chain solutions, support new product introductions, and manage contracts with packers.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in commercial management and budget control.
  • Understanding of packing principles.
  • Experience managing safety, hygiene, environment, and quality standards.
  • Progression in departmental management within a blue-chip manufacturing organization.
  • Experience implementing change management initiatives.
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement projects.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical degree (preferably engineering) or equivalent experience in packing operations.
