Outreach and Information Officer

Citizens Rights Project has a vacancy for the post of Outreach and Information Officer, based in Scotland, to be employed full-time (35 hours per week). The appointment will initially be on a temporary basis until 31 March 2026, with the potential for extension if further funding is secured. This post is funded by the Scottish Government, our main funder, since 2018.
The person appointed will be expected to travel throughout Scotland as required to organise or attend events. It is likely that arrangements can be made for part- or full-time and/or flexible working, if agreed in advance. The project is also willing to consider making arrangements for working from home, subject to the need to work from, or attend events/meetings in our office if required by the project.
Responsibilities- This post is part of our EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) support service. The role of the Outreach and Information Officer will include: reaching vulnerable and often isolated EU and other European migrant communities across Scotland and promoting our service, ensuring they are informed about the EU Settlement Scheme and the support we provide - including help with applications and the management of eVisas - through a range of communication methods such as online webinars, social media channels, in-person events, and collaborations with local partners.
- Organising and delivering online and in-person events across Scotland, including multilingual information sessions for migrants about the EU Settlement Scheme and their rights.
- Training and briefing sessions for professionals, such as those working in consulates, local authorities, third sector organisations, employers, and community groups, about the EUSS, how to best support migrants and our services.
- Support clinics for individuals seeking assistance.
- Creating and distributing printed and online content and resources about the EU Settlement Scheme and related rights, in collaboration with experts and other staff members.
- Maintaining and establishing collaborations with other organisations across Scotland.
- Advocating for migrants' rights and voices at forums and consultations across different sectors in Scotland and the UK.
- Supporting clients with accessing and updating their eVisa, and creating a share code.
- Supporting EUSS applications (subject to experience).

- Proficiency in English communication.
- Fluency in speaking and writing in at least one other language.
- Experience in organising events, both online and in-person.
- Ability to research, write, and produce information and publicity materials.
- Strong communication skills, demonstrating clarity, sensitivity, and confidence.
- Organisational skills with a commitment to service development and quality assurance.
- Proficient research skills to gather information from reputable sources.
- Patience, adaptability, and sensitivity when working with individuals in challenging situations.
- Empathy and a non-judgmental attitude towards clients.
- Compliance with Data Protection Act for record-keeping.
- Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
- Flexibility to travel to various locations within the area.
- Proficiency in using information technology.
- Teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Availability to travel across Scotland.
- Some experience in the use of social media.
- Ability to look at the development of services and implement improvements with minimal input.
- Familiarity with EU Settlement Scheme processes is beneficial, although not required for this role. Training will be provided as needed.
- An understanding of the issues facing EU citizens in Scotland.
- Knowledge of local voluntary organisations.
- Comfortable using a range of everyday software tools (e.g. Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, Vimeo) and able to troubleshoot simple technical issues to assist colleagues - no specialist IT expertise required.
