Job Description

Role Overview An established independent optical and hearing care provider is seeking a qualified Optometrist to join its team in Surrey. This role focuses on delivering high-quality eye care and promoting eye health in line with professional standards, ensuring the best possible visual outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens consultations, and specialist clinics (e.g. dry eye), in line with qualifications and business needs Practice in accordance with General Optical Council (GOC) regulations Provide clear, patient-focused advice on eye health, including lifestyle and preventative care Work collaboratively with dispensing opticians and support teams to deliver a seamless patient experience Make appropriate and well-communicated clinical recommendations with a focus on patient benefit Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date patient records in line with legal and professional standards Utilise and maintain proficiency with advanced diagnostic equipment (e.g. OCT, fundus camera, tonometry, visual fields) Stay up to date with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements Contribute to business growth through excellent patient care and communication Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance processes Qualifications & Experience BSc (Hons) in Optometry (or equivalent) Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) Experience working in a community optometry setting Additional accreditations (e.g. glaucoma referral refinement, post-cataract) are advantageous Skills & Attributes Strong clinical and diagnostic skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities A patient-focused, empathetic, and professional approach High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment Strong organisational and time management skills Commitment to ongoing professional development Rewards & Benefits Competitive salary (dependent on experience) Payment of professional fees (GOC/AOP) Ongoing training and development support, including CPD events Company pension scheme with salary sacrifice option and life assurance Performance-related incentive scheme Staff and family discounts 33 days annual leave (pro rata, including bank holidays) Clear career progression opportunities Regular team-building events Company sick pay Employee perks and wellbeing support, including EAP access Cycle to Work scheme No Sunday or bank holiday working, plus two Saturdays off per month
