In the UK, we own, operate and are significantly developing the 370 acre top tier COMAH site Saltend Chemicals Park (SCP.) With a cluster of world class chemicals and renewable energy businesses, it's strategically positioned on the UK's busiest ports complex and at the forefront of our energy transition plans.
The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Operations Technician.
This is a multi-skilled operational role on a top tier COMAH site completing responsibilities for safe, efficient monitoring and operation of key plant areas including water treatment, steam management, tank farm operations, effluent control and shipping operations.
You'll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities- Ensuring safe, reliable, environmentally compliant operation and maintenance of assigned process areas either owned or operated by px for a third party - monitoring, inspecting and controlling within agreed parameters.
- Proactively identifying, reporting and resolving issues. Working to ensure safe operation of assets.
- Raising emerging equipment issues via the Maintenance Management system.
- Completing required routines including sampling and log writing to achieve comprehensive handovers.
- Following required procedures and protocols to manage plant upsets, start up and shutdowns.
- Process analysis utilising DCS system.
- Working to operational targets and requirements to accurately monitor operations, making adjustments to maximise efficiency, minimise cost, meet environmental compliance and ensure product specification.
- Completing required training to complete the duties of a Senior Authorised person or Authorised Person, in line with the px Permit to Work System. To include producing and reviewing accurate and relevant method statements and risk assessments.
- Completion of plant preparation procedures, plant preparations, equipment isolations and gas testing in accordance with permit requirements.
- Within own competency levels providing relevant training, advice and guidance to others.
- Complete and maintain required competency and training activities enabling you to complete all job role requirements to consistently deliver responsibilities in outside, jetty and control room activities.
- NVQ L3 in a relevant subject, or equivalent
- Experience working in and contributing to a 24/7 continuous process or operations environment, including: taking readings, sampling, monitoring of plant areas and emissions, fault finding, problem solving, continuous improvement, and housekeeping
- Experience following procedures and processes
- Understanding of plant/process shut down and start up in normal and abnormal operations
- Monitoring of and responding to trends via DCS or similar systems
- Experience reading and using process drawings
- Able to work and contribute to KPIs and delivery focused environments
- Chemical operational knowledge and work experience including operation of valves, pumps, compressors, distillation processes, and tank storage
- Completed the required company induction into this role
