Job Title: Operations Plant Supervisor
Location: Dundalk STP
In this role you will have the opportunity to be at the heart of one of our business units.
EPS operates several Operation and Maintenance Contracts on behalf of Irish Water and other clients. Many of these contracts are long term contracts. These contracts are performance driven contracts.
The role of Plant Supervisor involves managing a team of operators, craftsmen and operational scientists on the Dundalk STP. The role requires a good understanding of the wastewater treatment process and the contractual and compliance requirements of DBO contracts. The role involves managing the operation and maintenance of the sludge stream at the STP, from its current condition, through the ongoing major plant upgrade works, and into the operational service period following completion of the upgrade. The role will require close liaison with both the EPS Contracts Team, who are carrying out the upgrade works, and the Uisce Eireann team, who will continue to operate the liquid stream of the plant.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:The role requires the following duties to be performed:-
- Excellent time management and flexibility. Both clients and operational staff will be in regular contact with the Area Supervisor - so the role requires someone who can manage time effectively for himself and those he works with.
- Must be self-motivated, a self-starter who manages their time for the benefit of the particular activity they are involved in. Flexibility in start and finish times is vital to ensure completion of activities.
Management of the routine operational, maintenance and process activities as required at the treatment plants and the associated pumping stations as directed by EPS Senior Management.
Ensuring contractual requirements are managed to produce positive outcomes for EPS and the client.
Responsible for managing the routine process monitoring of the treatment processes to ensure compliance and cost effectiveness of the various O&M contracts in place.
A good command of the English language is required, and the ability to communicate well both face to face and on the phone at all levels within the company and with clients and statutory bodies is essential.
The operational contracts require regular call out and stand by and weekend plant checks. The Area Supervisor will be available to guide and direct the on call team to ensure contractual compliance and cost effective solutions are implemented in an out-of hours environment.
The role will also include arranging for operatives and technicians to cover holidays, sickness and training.
While the role is primarily office based, regular visits to site will be required to
- Ensure H&S systems are being implemented and adhered to
- Satisfy management that sites are being maintained in a satisfactory condition
- Satisfy management that the sites are being operated in a compliant and efficient manner.
- Deal with staff management matters
- Attend client/contractor visits, audits and meetings where necessary.
- Carry out other relevant tasks as required from time to time by management
