Are you an influential leader with a background in high-volume food production?

I am currently representing a premier UK food manufacturer, a business that houses some of the nation's most iconic baking and sweetening brands.

Following a period of strategic growth, our client is seeking an Operations Manager to spearhead their site production strategy. This isn't just about keeping the lines running; it's about driving a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

The Opportunity

As Operations Manager, you will take full ownership of the site's production plan. You will be the driving force behind ensuring the facility is safe, efficient, and reliable, consistently meeting targets across safety, quality, and cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Direct the day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure customer requirements and forecasts are met.
  • Safety & Quality Champion: Foster a "Safe Food, Safe People" culture, ensuring total compliance with H&S legislation, COSHH, and food safety standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean and CI methodologies to optimize quality, reduce waste, and improve labour productivity.
  • Project Delivery: Play a central role in delivering capital and operational projects on time and within budget.
  • Team Development: Lead and coach a high-performing team, fostering an environment of accountability and shared best practices.
The Candidate

I am looking for an analytical and resilient leader who remains calm under pressure and thrives in an FMCG environment.

Required Experience
  • Proven management experience within FMCG production (Food sector experience is highly desirable).
  • Demonstrable success in leading teams through performance improvement and organizational change.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GHP, and engineering best practices.
  • A practical understanding of how to translate CI/Lean theory into shop-floor results.
Qualifications
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Intermediate HACCP and Intermediate Food Safety (or a commitment to achieving these).
