Operations Manager / Project Manager - Construction

Location: Cork (primarily office-based)

Sector: Construction

We are working with an ambitious and expanding business entering an exciting growth phase. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced operations professional to work closely with company leadership, helping to strengthen processes, scale operations, and contribute to the company's future success.

The successful candidate will bring a practical, hands on approach and strong experience within construction or similar background. You will play a key role in developing operational structure, improving efficiencies, supporting financial performance, and building the systems required for sustainable growth.

Core Responsibilities Operations & Process Management
  • Take ownership of daily operational activities across construction delivery, project execution, and site coordination
  • Develop, implement, and refine operational procedures and standardised workflows
  • Introduce scalable systems that improve productivity, quality assurance, compliance, and efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement across scheduling, coordination, and operational delivery
Project Delivery & Programme Oversight
  • Manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, from planning and pre construction through to completion
  • Ensure delivery targets are achieved within agreed timelines, budgets, and quality expectations
  • Establish robust project management processes, tracking tools, and reporting structures
  • Act as the senior escalation contact for project related risks, challenges, and client matters
Financial Performance & Cost Control
  • Collaborate with leadership on forecasting, budgeting, and financial oversight
  • Monitor project profitability through job costing, margin analysis, cash flow, and expenditure management
  • Support relationships with lenders, funding partners, and stakeholders where required
  • Identify cost saving opportunities while maintaining safety, quality, and service standards
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and support operational, project management, and site based teams
  • Introduce clear accountability measures, KPIs, and performance management structures
  • Mentor team members and encourage professional growth and development
  • Promote a culture centred around responsibility, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Client & Partner Engagement
  • Act as a senior operational contact for clients, suppliers, and strategic partners
  • Build and maintain strong relationships through consistent delivery and communication
  • Support business growth by ensuring operational reliability and excellent client outcomes
Business Growth & Exit Preparation
  • Partner closely with ownership to strengthen business
  • Improve internal systems, reporting capability, operational structure, and documentation standards
  • Ensure operational records, reporting, and business processes are well organised to support due diligence and long term scalability
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Strong operational leadership experience within construction, or related industries
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a fast paced environment
  • Commercially minded with solid financial and budgeting awareness
  • Skilled in implementing systems, processes, and operational improvements
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Comfortable working closely with business owners in a scaling organisation
  • Strong problem solving mindset with a focus on execution and results
