Operations Director

Rivan Industries () is a vertically integrated synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise industries you can't electrify. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground.

Over the past 2 years, we've designed and manufactured a modular synthetic fuel plant consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. We've recently deployed the UK's largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years. We now have clear line of sight to producing synthetic fuels cheaper than fossil over the next 5-10 years, becoming the first company in history to achieve this feat, allowing us to access one of the largest liquid markets on earth and forcing industry to adopt our new standard.

We're looking for an Operations Director to help dictate our permitting, deployment, funding and organisational architecture to nail our goals. We need a natural born leader that has the energy to force projects into existence, but enough scar-tissue and experience to appreciate the requirement for incredible execution. We're looking for someone that can look at a hyper-complex situation and is able to deconvolute into individual blocks they can influence and systematically breakdown. The ideal candidate will have a mix of great individual contribution ability (no middle management here), but also deeply understands managing, incentivising and focusing a team. We're highly technical as a company, and are looking for this role to seamlessly stitch together our engineering and manufacturing effort into clear commercial and operational output.

The role:

• Coordinate our deployment, permitting, commercial and financial functions against targets
  • Engaging effectively with key stakeholders in Spain and the UK to execute project more effectively
  • Garner local, regional and governmental support for projects
  • Unlock new opportunities for our projects (land, permitting, grid-connecting, funding)
• Help design better organisation architecture to move faster
  • Team goal setting & progress towards targets
  • Team retros, presentations and optimisations (finding and solving bottlenecks)
  • All legal requirements (Employment contracts, investor filings, equity and remuneration)
• Own, build and execute c-suite strategies
  • Investor and c-suite organisation
  • Board information and presentations (Including finance, commercial, engineering, manufacturing)
  • Fundraising strategy

Management:

• You'll report directly to the CEO.
• You'll manage the following people:
  • Operations: Ops Lead
  • Permitting: Technical Project Lead
  • Deployment: Technical Project Lead

Core skills:

• 8+ years professional experience
• Bachelor's or Master's in related field (ideally engineering)
• Track record of execution in hardware or complex business
• Have built and scaled your own company
• Have lots of interesting side projects you tinker on, have written about, or are generally curious to work on
• Have worked specifically within fuels, commodities, or related field
• Have worked within policy or interfaced with government

Specifics:

• £100-110k Salary depending on experience
• Significant share options as part of the early team
• In person work at our HQ in Bermondsey, South East London
• Extensive relocation support, including £6000 per year extra to live close to our HQ.
