Operational Services Supervisor

Overview

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Operational Services Supervisor to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality frontline services across the public realm.

In this role, you will lead and support frontline staff across areas including Waste, Street Scene, and Parks Operations. You will oversee daily operations, ensure services are delivered efficiently and safely, and help maintain clean, safe, and attractive public spaces for our communities.

This is a hands-on supervisory role requiring strong leadership, organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, support, and motivate frontline teams to deliver high standards of service
• Plan and manage staff schedules to meet operational demands
• Carry out regular inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and service quality
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and council policies
• Monitor performance and provide training, coaching, and development for staff
• Resolve employee issues and support a positive team environment
• Deploy resources effectively across Waste, Street Scene, and Parks services
• Identify opportunities to improve services, generate income, and support business growth
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner organisations, and stakeholders
• Attend meetings and liaise with customers, colleagues, and Councillors as required

About You

You will be an experienced supervisor with the ability to lead teams in a fast-paced operational environment. You will be confident managing people, maintaining high standards, and adapting to changing priorities.

You will have:

• Experience supervising teams and managing day-to-day operations
• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to organise workloads and respond to operational challenges
• A flexible approach, including willingness to work outside normal hours when required
• Experience in public realm services (Waste, Street Scene, Parks) is desirable
