Job Description
Lead the Future of Adult Social Care in North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire Council requires an Operational Manager(Adults) to lead The Towns district team, your office base will be in Selby, North Yorkshire.

We are now offering an exciting opportunity for an Operational Manager to join our high performing service and help us continue delivering excellence for Adult services.

As a Team Manager, you will lead and manage Social Workers and Advanced Practitioner with the support of a Senior Group Manager to ensure the delivery of an effective social work service to people within North Yorkshire, in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.

The post will oversee social care services for Adults aged between 18-75, as part of the 'Adults' portfolio. Working in collaboration with teams and manager for Older Adults, Mental Health and Specialist Services, Intermediate Care and Prevention and Access.

You will:
  • Provide clear leadership and direction to a social care workforce, driving quality practice through a personalised approach to social care, placing a person's wellbeing at the heart of all we do.
  • Oversee timely assessments, safeguarding decisions, and care planning to achieve positive outcomes for people.
  • Manage team performance, budgets, and resources to meet service priorities, CQC and Social Care standards.
  • Champion multi-agency collaboration with partners such as Health, Education, and Police.

  • Excellent partnership-working skills and the ability to build positive relationships across organisations and communities.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act and wider statutory responsibilities.
  • Experience of driving service improvement, managing performance and delivering positive outcomes.
  • Resilience, adaptability and the confidence to challenge appropriately where required.
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion, safeguarding and continuous improvement.
  • The credibility and professionalism to lead multidisciplinary teams and represent the service with confidence across the wider system.

  • Lead and oversee the operational management of locality based adult social care team -The Towns, covering Harrogate and Selby.
  • Drive performance, transformation, and service improvement.
  • Ensure financial sustainability and regulatory compliance.
  • Represent the Directorate at strategic forums and influence policy.
  • Champion co-production and community-based approaches.
