Operational and clinical Lead - Stroke & Neurorehabilitation (Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist)

Band 8a Fixed-term until 31 March 2027Haringey & Islington Whittington Health NHS Trust

We are seeking an experienced Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to provide operational and clinical leadership for our Stroke & Neurorehabilitation Services across Haringey and Islington. The core elements of this role will be leading on transformation of the Haringey stroke service to integrate under the HUURT services. You will be responsible for leading, implementing and evaluating the transitioning of the team

This fixed-term role offers an exciting opportunity to lead specialist community rehabilitation teams delivering high-quality, evidence-based care that supports recovery, maximises independence and prevents avoidable deterioration.

Main duties of the job

About the Role

• Lead and manage Stroke & Neurorehabilitation teams across two boroughs
• Ensure safe, effective, person-centred community rehabilitation
• Drive performance, quality improvement and staff development
• Oversee service planning, workforce management and clinical governance
• Work closely with Urgent Response and neighbourhood teams to support integrated care

About You

You will be a registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with:

• Senior leadership experience in a complex healthcare setting
• Strong clinical background in stroke and/or neurorehabilitation
• Experience managing teams, resources and service performance
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills

Person Specification Education/Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in relevant profession Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy
• Registration with the HCPC
• Postgraduate degree relevant to the area of practice/postgraduate management qualification
• Relevant professional body membership.

• Able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information in written, verbal and presentational form to clients, staff and senior managers within the Trust and across other organisations.
• Skilled in leading, motivating and influencing a team
• Highly developed problem-solving skills for highly complex situations, which may include clinical or organisational issues.

Knowledge & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years previous senior managerial experience in a large and complex organisation preferably within the NHS.
• Demonstrable capability and capacity for clinical service management at a senior level in a large, complex healthcare environment, including staff management, financial management and change management.
• Demonstrable success in delivering change and performance with and through your management and clinical teams
• Knowledge and experience of managing budgets and delivering cost improvementsHighly developed Computer literacy skills
• Understanding of Clinical Governance and its application to community services
• Previous experience of managing community services
• Ability to analyse complex problems and to develop practical and workable solutions to address them.
• Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically, and creatively, and to prioritise work programs in the face of competing demands.
• Ability to manage and deliver to deadlines and within resources.
• Previous experience of managing community services
