OpenShift Architect
Location: Wokingham. Hybrid 2 days per week onsite.
Duration: 01/05/2026
MUST BE PAYE THROUGH UMBRELLA

We are heading up a recruitment drive for a global consultancy that require an OpenShift Architect to join them on a major government project that's based in Wokingham.

Role Description:

Architecture Design:
Create scalable, secure, and highly available OpenShift architectures, including cluster topology, networking, and storage solutions.

Migration:
Lead application and workload migrations to OpenShift, often with minimal downtime, assessing readiness and developing detailed plans.

Integration:
Integrate OpenShift with underlying infrastructure, including VMware (vSphere, NSX) and Pure Storage, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.

Security & Compliance:
Implement and enforce security best practices, such as Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and network policies, and conduct security assessments.

Automation & DevOps:
Build CI/CD pipelines and automate DevOps workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Technical Guidance:
Provide technical guidance and training to development and operations teams on OpenShift architecture and best practices.

Platform Improvement:
Continuously iterate on the platform by implementing enhancements, improving reliability, and ensuring the platform stays current.

Required Skills & Qualifications
OpenShift & Kubernetes: Strong design and implementation experience with Red Hat OpenShift and underlying Kubernetes principles.

Containerization: In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker.

Virtualization: Expertise with VMware tools and technologies, such as vSphere and vCenter.

Networking & Storage: Understanding of networking concepts (eg, ingress, load balancing, DNS) and storage solutions (eg, persistent volumes, dynamic provisioning).

CI/CD & DevOps: Hands-on experience with Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar CI/CD tools and a strong understanding of DevOps methodologies.

Automation: Proficiency with automation tools and Scripting languages such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, and Bash.

Cloud Platforms: Experience with various IaaS platforms like AWS and Azure.

Linux: Strong Linux administration skills are essential
