On-Call Firefighter - Robin Hoods Bay

What You'll Do

An on-call firefighter for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS) must meet several key requirements to be eligible for the role.

• Candidates must live or work within four minutes of their assigned fire station to ensure a prompt response to emergencies.
• They must be at least 18 years old, physically fit, and pass a series of fitness, strength, and medical assessments, including a breathing apparatus test.
• No formal qualifications are required, but applicants must demonstrate teamwork, problem solving skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• A high level of commitment is essential, as on-call firefighters must be available for duty at agreed upon times, responding to a pager when required.
• Training is provided, covering firefighting techniques, first aid, and the use of equipment, and recruits must complete initial and ongoing training to maintain their skills.
• A flexible approach, strong community ties, and a willingness to engage in fire prevention activities are also important aspects of the role.

• Hold a full UK manual driving licence
• You must have the right to work in the UK, with no restrictions on your employment
