An on-call firefighter for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS) must meet several key requirements to be eligible for the role.
- Candidates must live or work within four minutes of their assigned fire station to ensure a prompt response to emergencies.
- They must be at least 18 years old, physically fit, and pass a series of fitness, strength, and medical assessments, including a breathing apparatus test.

- A high level of commitment is essential, as on-call firefighters must be available for duty at agreed upon times, responding to a pager when required.
