You will work alongside a dedicated team in a specialist care service that supports low and medium secure services for male patients under the Mental Health Act.

You will be responsible for planning and facilitating evidence-based group and individual programmes, maximising independence and supporting safe re-settlement into the community where possible.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex clients using an evidence-based approach to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions that build confidence, skills and coping strategies for everyday life.
• Receive and respond promptly to new admissions, undertaking assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering appropriate interventions - the OT team works in line with the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO).
• Contribute to risk assessments, attend ward rounds and CPA meetings, providing feedback on patients' engagement in Occupational Therapy and maintain accurate and contemporaneous electronic records.
• Develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice aligns with Elysium policies, complies with statutory regulations and maintains quality standards.
• Maintain effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers and external professionals throughout the patient's rehabilitation journey.
• Provide care for adult men, 18+, who may have a forensic background and enduring mental health illnesses such as personality disorder, substance misuse issues and challenging behaviours.

Qualifications

• A Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• UK HCPC registration or an application lodged.
• Previous experience working in a mental health setting (including practice placements).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
