Oasis Hubs are local places of activity that provide integrated, high quality and diverse services to benefit the whole person and the whole community. We run Open House which provides a space where everyone is welcome to participate and create community together. We like people to see us as a second home. We all support each other, take part and have fun together. Our World of Wonder play space attracts many local families. However, in our current set-up children can only use our space if they come with a grown-up, which often excludes secondary school aged children and children whose adults are unable to accompany them. We are therefore planning to develop an exciting new youth programme which will offer young people the chance to use our space on their own.

We ran a pilot youth club for children in Years 5 and 6. Noticing a gap in the area for young people to attend sessions without adults the aim of this pilot was to give local young people an opportunity to shape what a future youth club could look like. Following the success of the pilot, we launched a sixweek youth club programme in June and July. We had a group of year 5s and year 6s attending consistently and are all keen for the youth club to continue in this new academic year.

Our new Youth Worker will run this ready-made transition youth group for year 6s and 7s, whilst also working to develop and run clubs/activities for older youth, and respond to what our young people say in developing new areas of youth work. We are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to develop and grow youth work at Oasis Hull.

Our Community Team Leader will line manage this role, and support with the growth and development of the youth work. She also leads our Open House team, and we expect there to be areas of overlap as we develop further ways we can support our community to thrive.

Our ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification and/or experience in youth work which could be related to kids' clubs and clubs for teenagers, mentoring and coaching of young people, work in schools, family support, mental health, more general community work and so on.

We will want to know that you are able to reflect our ethos and values in planning and delivering youth work, that you are able to support volunteers to work with young people well, and that you have sufficient experience and/ or knowledge to make decisions 'on the ground' and develop and nurture our way of working where everyone is included, everyone is valued, and everyone has something to give. The successful applicant will be able to show they are reflective, open to new ideas, willing to challenge and to be challenged, and committed to their own personal development. They will be comfortable with keeping on top of administration and communication and with writing reports and collating data. They will enjoy supporting staff and volunteers and helping everyone to be the best they can be.
