Nursery Nurse

We are recruiting for a Nursery Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to participate as a member of the Neonatal multidisciplinary team providing evidence based family centred care.

We are a busy innovative Level 2 Neonatal unit. We achieved Stage 1 accreditation of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative in 2021. A certificate of commitment in support of breastfeeding and the parent/ infant relationship. We are currently working towards Gold BLISS Accreditation.

We have an established Transitional Care unit and we are in the process of expanding the service in line with national recommendations.

Main duties of the job

You will provide holistic family centred and integrated care for Special Care infants and infants on Transitional Care under supervision of Nurse Team Managers or Team Leaders.

Prepare and assist with Neonatal follow up clinics and be responsible for the preparation and storage of infant feeds as part of milk kitchen duties.

Participate in all duties required in the milk kitchen and actively support breast feeding initiatives.

You will facilitate & deliver parentcraft sessions taking into account the principles of Developmental Care.

Person Specification Qualifications/Training
  • NNEB qualification or equivalent e.g. NVQ level 3 in childrens care; CACHE level 3 diploma in child care & education; BTEC national diploma in childrens care, learning & development
  • Qualification or evidence of additional appropriate courses.
Previous Experience
  • Recent experience of working with children, preferably babies
  • Working with children or babies in a health care environment
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital
Skills
  • Basic IT skills and willingness to develop these
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Flexibility and team participation
  • Evidence of commitment to professional development
  • Data Input Skills
Knowledge
  • Child Development
  • Ability to follow direction of allocated tasks
