Little Rainbows Academy is here to provide top quality care by providing extensive and varied facilities for children aged 3 months all the way to 12 years.

We are located on the corner of Alvaston Street and Green Lane in Alvaston, Derby, formally St. John Fisher Convent.

Nursery Manager

Location: Derby
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 per annum (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Nursery Manager to lead our thriving nursery and deliver outstanding early years education and care. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated childcare professional to oversee daily operations, inspire a team of practitioners, and create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can flourish.

As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care, learning, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance while building strong relationships with children, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to day operations of the nursery.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures, and EYFS requirements.
  • Drive high quality teaching, learning, and development outcomes for children.
  • Recruit, mentor, train, and support nursery staff to achieve their full potential.
  • Monitor and maintain occupancy levels and support business growth initiatives.
  • Manage nursery budgets, resources, and financial performance.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Prepare for and manage regulatory inspections, ensuring excellent standards are maintained.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging nursery culture.
Requirements
  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare (minimum requirement).
  • Level 5 qualification or above in Early Years, Childcare, or Leadership (desirable).
  • Previous experience as a Nursery Manager, Deputy Nursery Manager, or Senior Early Years Leader.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding legislation.
  • Experience managing teams and supporting staff development.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain high standards of care and education.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
