Overview

Nursery Chef / Childcare Cook position for Rayners Lane Montessori nursery in Harrow, London. Lead the kitchen and provide nutritious, well-balanced meals to around 30 children daily. This is a part-time role with expected hours between 16 and 25 per week.

Responsibilities

Lead and operate the kitchen in the nursery with guidance from the manager and deputy manager.
Prepare healthy, varied meals for 30 children (snacks, lunch, and tea).
Plan a 4-week rolling menu including snacks, lunch, and tea; ensure meals are nutritious and age appropriate.
Attend staff meetings and prepare light snacks as required.
Maintain records and standards in line with the Food Standards Agency and statutory Health and Safety/environmental legislation.
Report any faults or concerns regarding the kitchen.
Work within a team and contribute to a supportive environment for development and training.

Qualifications

Minimum Level 2 in Basic Food Hygiene.
A Level 2/ Level 3 NVQ in food processing/catering or Level 3 in supervision of food safety in catering.
Experience: At least 1 year in a nursery setting or a commercial kitchen.
Ability to cook for 30 children; plan a 4-week rolling menu; be able to work within a team; attend staff meetings.
Aware of Local Authority and statutory Health and Safety/environmental legislation and Healthy Eating Safer Food Better Business.
Be able to maintain records as required by the Food Standards Agency and report faults or concerns.
