We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Manager who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Lister Macmillan Cancer Centre is an 18 bed outpatient facility where we specialise in the safe and compassionate administration of chemotherapy, biological therapies, immunotherapies and other anti cancer treatments. We see a broad group of patients undergoing both curative and palliative treatments for a range of different cancer types.

This is a full time position with a shift pattern of 3 shifts 8:00 am - 6:00 pm and 1 shift 8:00 am - 5:30 pm.

Demonstrable chemotherapy experience essential.

Main duties of the job

You would be joining an experienced and supportive team and have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of professionals including chemotherapy nurses, advanced nurse practitioners, and medical oncology consultants.

The successful applicant will need to be a registered nurse with an interest in oncology and experience in the administration of systemic anti cancer therapies to work in our friendly cancer day unit. Experience in a nursing leadership role will also be required.

Experience of chemotherapy administration, venepuncture and cannulation and leadership is essential for this Nurse Team Manager post.

Person Specification Qualifications

• BSC Adult Nursing
• Qualification in SACT / Chemotherapy
• Post reg qualification / module in cancer related subject
• Advanced communication course
• Leadership course

Experience

• Demonstrable experience in the delivery of SACT
• Experience as a Band 6 or above in an acute medical setting
• Experience providing education to junior staff
• Experience in appraisals and supporting junior colleagues to undertake leadership responsibilities

Skills

• Venepuncture and cannulation
• Administration of SACT via IV, SC, IM and PO routes
• Detection and escalation of deteriorating patients
• Previous use of Healthroster
• Undertaking difficult and sensitive conversations

Knowledge

• Good understanding of infection control issues
• Good understanding of clinical audit

Other

• Experience and evidence of engagement around equality, diversity and inclusion issues around policy, service development and service delivery in respect of both services to users and the management of staff.
