Job Description

Working as a trained Nurse Associate in a nursing team comprised of Lead Practice Nurse, Practice Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, Phlebotomist, Nurse Practitioner.

The role is full time which could be worked over 4 compressed days or 5 days.

Main duties of the job

The role will depend on experience but could comprise of:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Blood pressures
  • ECGs, INR testing
  • NHS Healthchecks
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Injectables i.e. shingles and pneumo
  • Cervical smears

Training can be offered for those areas not yet competent in.

The role also involves stock management and ordering of medical consumables.

About us

Newbridge Surgery looks after approx. 9000 patients in the western part of Bath.

We have a clinical team comprising of 2 GP partners and an additional 5 salaried GPs, nurse/clinical practitioners, paramedics and clinical pharmacists.

We have newly refurbished clinical rooms and as a training practice a strong ethos in training and development of staff.

Job responsibilities

Duties& Responsibilities:

  • Special health checks required byenhanced services
  • ECG recording
  • BP measuring monitoring
  • Administering of injections as percompetencies (shingles, pneumonia, B12, flu, prostap, covid)
  • Assisting in the assessment andsurveillance of patients health and wellbeing including checks related tochronic conditions i.e. foot checks
  • Helping to raise awareness of healthand wellbeing and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting IUCD/Implant fittingincluding the set up
  • Conforming with clinical wasteprocedures
  • Urine dipping and onward patientreferral as required
  • Stitch removal
  • INR monitoring
  • Wound and leg ulcer dressings
  • Cervical smears

Purchasing& Stock Control

  • Replenishment of medical consumables ensuring stocklevels are kept to the optimum levels for the practice to minimise costs andstorage space
  • Returning medical equipment for repair andcommissioning new equipment with support from Lead Nurse and Practice Manager
  • Preparing and maintaining environmentsand equipment before, during and after patient care interventions includingassisting GPs during the performanceof minor operations
  • Replenishment, stocktaking and monitoring of drugsand injectables including the monitoring of the environment and provision ofsecure storage
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Nurse Associate qualification and associated registration with the NMC
  • Competencies in a range of clinical procedures required in general practice.
