Nurse Associate - GP Practice

Southall Medical Centre is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated nurse associate to join our dynamic clinical team. The successful candidate will ideally have experience working as a nurse associate in Primary Care.
Main duties of the jobThe following form part of the responsibilities of the nurse associate.
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
- Cervical Smears/Cytology
- Paediatric phlebotomy (if appropriately trained to do so)
- Long-term conditions reviews (e.g. diabetic checks, asthma checks, care planning, non-diabetic hyperglycaemia checks)
- Routine immunisations (e.g. shingles, pneumococcal, flu)
- Contraception / pill checks
- Wound care / ulcer care / Removal of Sutures
- ECGs
- Asthma/Peak Flow Readings
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate

Job responsibilitiesAs per the main duties of the job, the nurse associate must be competent to perform all general duties.
Person Specification Qualifications- Appropriate, valid NMC registration
- Competency and valid certification in all key duties (e.g. smears, childhood vaccinations, phlebotomy, ECG etc.)
- Experience with SystmOne clinical system
- Prior experience of working in a GP practice
