Node.js Developer

Node.js Engineer (Contract - Inside IR35)
Day rate: £600
Location: Remote/UK-based
Duration: Initial 6 months (likely to extend)

I'm looking for a Node.js Engineer to join a high-impact project, focused on building and hardening microservices running on Azure Container Apps. You'll be developing reliable, secure, and observable async workflows, working across complex integrations in a modern cloud environment.

The role:

• Design and build Node.js/TypeScript microservices (Express/lightweight HTTP) for asynchronous job orchestration

• Implement FIFO and round-robin workers, leases/heartbeats, retries/backoff, and idempotency keys

• Integrate with Azure SQL, ADLS Gen2, Storage Queues/Service Bus, and ADF triggers

• Contribute to Real Time features via SignalR/WebSockets

• Drive CI/CD improvements (GitHub Actions) and containerisation best practice

• Operate securely within private Azure environments (Managed Identity, RBAC, Private Endpoints)

• Ensure config-driven processing with robust error handling, telemetry, and full traceability

Key skills:

• Strong Node.js and TypeScript experience in production microservices

• Deep understanding of Azure Container Apps and Azure Storage (Blobs/Queues)

• SQL proficiency (Azure SQL) - handling transactional updates and retries

• Solid reliability engineering experience - idempotency, timeouts, circuit breakers, retry logic

• Experience with Angular/SPAs (SignalR), file validation (Excel/CSV), or SFTP connectors

• Strong focus on secure deployments and private endpoint architecture
