Job Description
About Us Choosing to work at Stef & Philips is about more than just having a job. All members of our team share the same goal: to help improve the lives of vulnerable people around the UK, by delivering safe, suitable homes and vital services for the homeless, backed by investors who care. This people-centred ethos is reflected in our company culture; we prioritise wellbeing, inclusion, and opportunity for all.

The Role Stef & Philips operates accommodation services across multiple locations, supporting vulnerable individuals and families 24/7. The Night Shift Accommodation Manager is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing night-time operations across all our sites while being based at our Croydon office. You will act as the central point of contact for all night staff, providing guidance, reassurance, and decision-making support throughout the shift. This includes coordinating responses to incidents, ensuring compliance checks are completed, and escalating urgent matters to senior management or emergency services where required. The role is not solely about property management - it requires strong people management skills, safeguarding awareness, and crisis management ability. You will work remotely with staff across multiple sites, ensuring they feel supported and that tenants are safe, well cared for, and able to maintain their tenancies during the most challenging hours of the day. As the out-of-hours lead, you will be expected to balance proactive monitoring (such as compliance checks, staff welfare, and incident prevention) with reactive responses to emergencies (such as fire alarms, anti-social behaviour, or welfare concerns). You will ensure all activity is logged accurately and provide detailed handovers to the Housing and Allocations Teams at the end of each shift.

This is a demanding but rewarding position, ideal for someone who is:
  • Confident in making quick, sound decisions under pressure.
  • Experienced in housing or care services with a strong understanding of safeguarding.
  • Able to lead and support staff remotely across multiple locations.
  • Calm, professional, and resilient when dealing with sensitive or high-risk situations.
The Night Shift Accommodation Manager plays a critical role in ensuring Stef & Philips' services remain safe, compliant, and responsive around the clock - safeguarding both our tenants and our staff.

Main Duties & Responsibilities Night Operations & Staff Support
  • Act as the first point of contact for all night staff across Stef & Philips' sites.
  • Provide remote supervision, guidance, and decision-making support.
  • Monitor staff check-ins, lone working protocols, and wellbeing.
  • Support staff in responding to tenant concerns, property issues, or compliance matters.
  • Escalate urgent matters to senior management and emergency services as required.
Tenant & Site Oversight
  • Respond remotely to tenant-related incidents (welfare concerns, ASB, safeguarding).
  • Guide staff through tenant inductions, welfare checks, and incident management.
  • Ensure that out-of-hours tenant support follows safeguarding and confidentiality protocols.
  • Monitor and respond to out-of-hours complaints or emergencies, ensuring follow-up is completed.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure night staff complete mandatory compliance and safety checks (fire alarms, exits, patrols).
  • Support staff in recording health & safety data and ensure compliance logs are accurate.
  • Escalate any critical H&S risks immediately.
  • Act as a point of escalation for fire safety incidents, urgent repairs, or security breaches.
Incident & Emergency Management
  • Provide remote leadership in response to serious incidents, including medical emergencies, fires, and security threats.
  • Liaise with emergency services, local authorities, and safeguarding partners when needed.
  • Ensure incident reports are completed accurately and submitted before the end of shift.
Communication & Reporting
  • Maintain regular communication with night staff via phone, email, or remote systems.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of all incidents, welfare checks, compliance tasks, and escalations.
  • Prepare nightly handover reports for Housing and Allocations Teams.
