Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to oversee all warehouse activities during the night shift. You will be the most senior person on site overnight, responsible for leading:

• 1 Warehouse Supervisor
• 1 Administrator
• 10 Warehouse Operatives

You will report to the Senior Warehouse Manager, who works the day shift and typically remains on-site at the start of your shift to conduct team meetings and hand over key information before leaving.

This is a hands on leadership role in a busy warehouse environment, ideal for someone confident working independently and making operational decisions during night hours.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & People Management

• Lead, supervise, and support the night-shift team.
• Monitor attendance, manage rotas, and maintain staffing levels.
• Conduct start of shift briefings with a strong focus on safety and performance.
• Support training, development, and onboarding activities.
• Manage first line HR matters such as performance issues and conduct.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety standards and internal procedures.
• Enforce safe FLT usage and ensure only licensed drivers operate machinery.
• Investigate incidents or near misses and complete reports.
• Maintain accurate audits, checks, and certification records.

Operational Responsibility

• Take full control of the warehouse overnight, ensuring workflows run smoothly.
• Oversee goods in, goods out, stock movements, and transport activity.
• Delegate tasks to ensure productivity and timely completion of work.
• Liaise with drivers, hauliers, contractors, and any visitors to site.
• Resolve operational issues quickly and escalate where required.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure process compliance.

Communication & Coordination

• Receive detailed handovers from the Senior Warehouse Manager at shift start.
• Communicate effectively with day shift teams to ensure operational continuity.
• Work closely with departments such as Sales, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.

The Successful Applicant

• Previous experience in warehouse supervision or management.
• Strong understanding of warehouse processes and Health & Safety.
• Confident leading teams and handling operational decisions alone.
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast paced environment.
