Night Shift Maintenance Engineer

Help us make a difference as a Night Maintenance Technician at the Leicester Ball Mill.
Monday to Friday - 20:00 to 05:00
(45 hours per week)
Note: Flexibility may be required in line with operational needs
Salary - £45,207 per annum
A quick look at the role.
The Maintenance Technician will support the ongoing maintenance and reliability of plant equipment at the Leicester Ball Mill facility. The role involves conducting preventative and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, and supporting engineering activities to ensure plant availability and performance. The technician will work as part of the night shift team to ensure all machinery and systems operate efficiently and safely.

Within Resources & Energy we focus on the treatment, recycling and disposal of waste. It provides a number of treatment services for those materials that can be recovered and landfill disposal for those that are not suitable for recycling or energy recover.
Your core responsibilities.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including correct PPE use, and report any incidents or near-misses immediately.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and respond quickly to breakdowns or reactive issues.
- Record all maintenance work accurately using the CMMS system and assist with machine inspections and parts identification.
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement to enhance equipment reliability.
- Work closely with operations teams to reduce downtime and maintain high standards of housekeeping.
- Raise any concerns or issues with the Engineering Supervisor promptly.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies and participate in audits and corrective actions.
- Share technical knowledge with the team and help maintain a positive, safety-first working environment.
Our essential requirements.
- Mechanical engineering qualification NVQ Level 3 minimum (Desirable but not essential)
- Electrical engineering qualification desirable
- Process minded with experience within an industrial maintenance role utilising Computerised Maintenance management Systems
- Good verbal and written communicator
- Previous experience in the waste industry - particularly with heavy plant and conveyors.
