Delivery Overview

In 2025 Char.gy expects to be awarded multiple contracts with Local Government organisations and private landlords to deploy Charging Points (CPs) across the UK and ultimately expect to deploy 100,000 CPs by 2030. The Delivery Team is growing to meet this demand and require a Network Designer to lead on the creation of Network Design for each of the Delivery Projects.

Position Overview

The Network Designer role will lead on char.gy's infrastructure network design for all customers. Developing the OmniEVision system that uses demand forecast and a variety of data sources to establish a Network Plan for each customer that is then evolved as site selection and delivery progresses.

The Network Designer will report to the Head of Delivery, lead a team of Network Planners and will work alongside the delivery organisation and it's suppliers to ensure the deployed network meets the needs of the business and the specific customer. They will be required to be an expert in the development of the data driven mapping tool and develop robust processes that ensure the Network Designs are the best in class.

The work will:

  • Lead - providing thought leadership using their qualifications and experience to create exception Network Designs EV infrastructure rolled-out across all customer deliveries.
  • Create and evolve - take the existing Network Planning tool to another level of excellence using AI and machine learning that supports the Bid team to win, the Delivery team to meet requirements and the Success team in maintaining an effective network for the entire length of the contract.
  • Manage Suppliers - identify and establish the tools we use and the sources of data required to create exception Network Designs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain an exception AI based Network Planning tool
  • Document the processes to be used by the Network Planning team
  • Support the Bid team initiatives to win work, the Delivery team to deploy efficiently and effectively and the Success team to maintain an optimised network for the contract duration
  • Working collaboratively with the customers and suppliers to ensure Network Designs are created to meet requirements of each customer and meet the business needs of char.gy. Identifing and assesses the optimal potential placement of EV charge point sites.
  • Located in the Office (London) and balance that with working from home and working in the field meeting customers and suppliers

Person Specification

Essential

  • A leader in Network Planning with strong GIS and data analysis skills used to develop our Network Planning tools and produce clear design and policy documentation
  • Excellent map based data analysis including demand based usage predictions, power grid availability, demographic layers and traffic analysis
  • Awareness of financial calculations based upon demand with break even analysis and revenue projections
  • Has a proven track record of Network Planning
  • An outstanding and willing communicator using appropriate written and verbal communications to a varied audience across all Delivery stakeholders

Desirable

  • An understanding of working with Local Governments
  • Worked in a delivery organisations supporting internal and external stakeholders
  • Worked in EV industry
  • Research in emerging AI driven mapping technology

  • Generates detailed and high-quality maps, reports, interactive visualizations, and descriptions of sites for various technical and non-technical audiences to accurately communicate site suitability, projected site success and utilization, and assess project plans
  • Experience working in partnership with Local Authorities on creating public facing GIS maps of potential charge point locations for the purpose of consultation
