Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Deployment Engineer to build Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of our Infrastructure Operations team. As dedicated cloud regions continue to expand and grow, Infrastructure Operations is looking for builders to take on the challenge of scaling network systems to stay ahead of customer demand. The role involves driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and assisting in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network infrastructure. Responsibilities include scaling support of several data centre locations and day-to-day assistance with capacity management.

Key job responsibilities
  • Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
  • Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
  • Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance activities.
  • Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows.
  • Participate in the migration (possibly off business hours), basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
  • Complete customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter-connectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low-level application interaction.
  • Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow.
A day in the life

A Network Deployment Engineer on our team attends meetings, creates and executes change-management activities in the data centre, deploys hardware, connects cabling, troubleshoots links, updates tickets, works with peers across AWS, innovates, develops and finds new ways to do it all better for our customers.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation. We tackle challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and look for talented people who want to help.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, or experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related) at an advanced level.
  • Experience managing small to medium scale projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • BS in Information Systems or Computer Science and/or relevant certifications.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including routers, switches, etc., as well as network cabling, optic types, and test equipment.
