St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. Job Summary

We are looking for a proactive individual to support the NDC Warehouse Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our National Distribution Centre. This key role ensures the efficient and accurate receipt, storage, preparation, and despatch of stock (including the handling of dangerous goods) in line with organisational standards and compliance procedures.

Working collaboratively with the NDC Manager and the wider team, you will help deliver high-quality service that meets daily business and customer demands. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the organisation, particularly within our customer service and supply chain teams.

About You

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (Grade C or above) in Maths and English.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse or operational environment.
  • Proficient in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanners.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example and manage workload under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

About the Role

  • Assist the NDC Warehouse Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, deputising in their absence to ensure continuity, efficiency, and high-quality standards.
  • Lead and coordinate the NDC team ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely order fulfilment.
  • Ensure all warehouse activities follow standard operating procedures and comply with Medical Device Regulations (MDR), maintaining accurate records and traceability.
  • Supervise and motivate staff to meet operational targets, uphold safety standards, and maintain a clean and organised warehouse environment.
  • Oversee the correct documentation and safe shipping of dangerous goods, ensuring trained personnel handle compliance and health & safety protocols.
  • Support inventory management through stock takes and audits, while managing keyholder responsibilities including site security and opening/closing duties
