Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to be part of the North Norfolk MSK Physiotherapy Service. This post is an exciting leadership opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative physiotherapist.

You will be one of 4 team leads in North Norfolk, overseeing the day to day clinical management across multiple sites. Together you will be responsible for service delivery. Alongside the clinical team leads you will be involved in the developing as well as mapping and improving the patient pathways. Our aim is to build on our reputation for best practice and excellent customer services.

Professional development reviews are core to the evolving team. Continuing professional development, peer support and training are actively encouraged with allocated protected time.

East Coast Community Healthcare CIC (ECCH) is entering exciting new times with integrated health and social care provision. In partnership with local health and care providers we are evolving into a multidisciplinary, multi-organisational workforce as we continue to deliver community care. Main duties of the job To take on the role of team leader in a designated clinical area, this will involve working on multiple sites.

To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard, including highly complex MSK patients.

To line manage B6s, B5s and B4s as required.

To make an active contribution to the planning, coordination and evaluation of Musculoskeletal Services provided to musculoskeletal patients by ECCH.

To coordinate and deliver, teaching and supervision to qualified clinicians, exercise professionals, assistant practitioners and students.

To support the North Norfolk MSK Clinical Lead and MSK Operational Lead.

Job responsibilities Clinical:

1.To be professionally and legallyresponsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including themanagement of patients in your care. To ensure high standards of clinical carefor the patients under your management and support others to do likewise.

2.To interpret and analyseclinical and non-clinical facts to form an accurate diagnosis and prognosis ina wide range of conditions, some highly complex, to recommend the best courseof intervention and to develop comprehensive management strategies for thepatient's presenting condition.

3.To undertake comprehensiveassessment of patients, including those with highly complex presentation, usinginvestigative and analytical skills and to formulate individualised managementand treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and utilising a wide range oftreatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.

4.To accept clinicalresponsibility for a designated caseload of patients and to organise thiseffectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

5.To demonstrate highlydeveloped precise dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory senses for assessmentand manual treatment of patients.

6.Ensure the implementation ofphysiotherapy service policies and any service development changes.

7.To provide spontaneous andplanned specialist advice, teaching, and instruction to relatives, carers andother professions to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and toensure a consistent approach to patient care.

8.To train and supervise morejunior staff, including exercise professionals and physiotherapy assistants.This will include the performance of their appraisals and PDPs.

9.To provide specialistclinical supervision in the management of musculoskeletal problems forphysiotherapy students at both MSc and BSc level.

10.To plan and organise studentplacement programs for experience in musculoskeletal outpatients for both MScand BSc student placements.

11.To communicate effectivelywith patients and carers to maximise the rehabilitation potential and to ensureunderstanding of the condition. Communication skills of persuasion, motivationand explanation will be used with a variety of patients.

12.Communicate effectively withall members of the physiotherapy team, GPs, consultants and other professionsto ensure a collaborative approach to the management of the patient'scondition, and to represent the service as appropriate.

13.To assess capacity, gainvalid informed consent and have the ability to work within the legal frameworkwith patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.

Professional

1.To act as team leader in adesignated clinical area, this will include initial stages ofgrievance/discipline, reporting and monitoring of sickness and return to workinterviews. Delegation of tasks to other staff members in the department.Actively involved in conjunction with the HR department in recruitment andselection of junior, clinical and admin staff.

2.To maintain own clinical professional development(CPD) by keeping abreast of any new trends and developments and incorporatethem as necessary into your work and to be an active member of the in-servicetraining programme by the attendance and presentation at staff meetings,tutorials, training sessions, external courses and reflective practice.

3.To keep up to date with developments within yourfield, disseminate information, and ensure that practice is based on bestavailable evidence.

4.Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation inline with legal and departmental requirements and communicate assessment andtreatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports andletters.

5.To communicate effectively and work collaborativelywith MDT colleagues across health economy to ensure delivery of a co-ordinatedservice.

6.Identify objectives for personal developmenttogether with the Clinical and professional lead for MSK Services.

7.Participate in the staff appraisal scheme andPersonal Development Programme (PDP).

8.Undertake the measurement and evaluation of yourwork and current practices through the use of Evidence Based Practice projects,audit and outcome measures, and lead others in doing so. Make recommendationsfor and lead change.

9.Demonstrate a sound understanding of ClinicalGovernance and Risk Management and apply to work situation and ensure others dolikewise.

Organisational

1.Responsible for a designated area of work, asagreed with the Clinical and Professional Lead.

2.Plan and organise this efficiently and effectivelywith regard to patient management and use of time

3.Decide priorities for own work area, balancingother patient related and professional demands, and ensure that these remain inaccordance with those of the section as a whole

4.Responsible for ensuring the effective selectionand use of all treatment resources available in the department and be anauthorised signatory for travel claim forms and purchasing of equipment.

5.To be responsible for equipment used in carryingout physiotherapy duties, and to adhere to departmental equipment policy,including competence to use equipment and to ensure the safe use of equipmentby others through teaching, training and supervision of practice.

6.Be actively involved in the collection ofappropriate data and statistics for the use of the department.

7.Be aware of the Health and Safety aspects of yourwork and implement any policies and audits which may be required to improve thesafety of your work area, including the prompt recording and reporting ofaccidents to senior staff, and ensuring that equipment used is safe.

8.To comply with the organisational and departmentalpolicies and procedures and to be involved in the reviewing and updating asappropriate.

9.Any other duties which might be consideredappropriate by the Clinical Coordinator for MSK Services.
