Motor Vehicle Mechanic

We are looking for a skilled Vehicle Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them, aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.

The person we are looking for must be a well trained and organised mechanic, who takes pride in their work and can maintain the day-to-day requirements of working in a used car garage.

They have excellent mechanical and electrical systems knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Diagnosing vehicle faults manually or with the aid of software and digital tool.

Repairing and replacing faulty vehicle parts

Performing test drives to check repairs

Carrying out scheduled servicing and maintenance

Updating vehicle service records

Installing and fitting new vehicle accessories

Inspect vehicle engine, mechanical and electrical components to diagnose issues accurately for customer and stock vehicles.

Diagnose and repair electrical issues when required.

Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g., leaks)

Keep detailed job cards of work completed.

Ensure equipment and tools are kept in good condition

Requirements and skills

Proven experience over 5 year as a vehicle mechanic

Must be confident and able to work to the highest standards.

Carry out service and repairs

Must be able to carry out all types of mechanical work to include (but not limited to) suspension, electrics, fuel systems, body fittings, cambelts and engine rebuilds.

Work as part of a team as well as being able to work alone.

Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles

Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods

Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.

Over 5 years experience

Hours 08.00 am to 17.30 pm

Tuesday - Friday

Looking for the right employee, so interested in self-employed as well as employed candidates.

Overalls will be provided, cleaned & maintained

General workshop & service tools are provided for use. It is expected that employees will use their own hand tools

Rates of pay dependent on experience & whether employed or self-employed.
