Mortuary Support Worker

Administration assistant to support the Mortuary Service. Evidence of administration and clerical experience essential. Previous applicants need not apply.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based at either Royal Stoke University Hospital or Leighton General Hospital. There is one full time post available at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and one 30 hour post based at Leighton General Hospital. You will be expected to work across all sites in the NMCPS Network. These include, Royal Stoke Hospital, County Hospital Stafford, Leighton and Macclesfield General Hospitals. This is an interesting and important job, previous experience preferred in this field although this is not essential as full training is given.

The post has a primary site of Royal Stoke Hospital or Leighton Hospital with a requirement to travel to County Hospital, Stafford and other sites in the NMCPS Mortuary Network.

Person Specification Education and qualifications
  • Basic standard of education including Maths and English
  • Experience of working in a patient care setting or customer facing environment
Experience
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Familiar with all forms of office equipment
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Broad range of IT skills including proficiency in use of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Previous patient or customer relations Experience
  • Familiarity with Pathology IT systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with NHS and Trust policies and procedures
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and demonstrate excellent communication skills: verbal, listening & written
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the concept of confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and oral)
  • A high level of confidentiality, diplomacy and an empathetic manner when dealing with distressed relatives
  • Able to use own initiative and work effectively as part of a small team and independently
  • Must pay high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to prioritise workload
