Montfort & Bentley House Coordinator

About the role

Working closely with the Deputy Manager, the Housing Management Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the housing management aspects of running both Bentley House and Montfort House.

Main duties

• Working with the Deputy Manager, to oversee effective health and safety, maintenance and building developments to ensure both a safe and welcoming environment for residents, staff and volunteers.
• To manage and oversee the rota in conjunction with the Deputy Manager.
• To keep appropriate records of all work and activities within the project in accordance with procedures.
• To deal with emergency situations acting in the event of a fire or other incidents and being responsible for calling emergency services in an appropriate manner.
• Arranging and carrying out assessment interviews with clients and other relevant parties within stipulated timelines.
• Ensuring good and effective liaison with outside agencies including the housing department, police, social services and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

General responsibilities

• In conjunction with the Senior Housing Services Manager to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Passage.
• To participate in internal/external meetings as required, attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary.
• To participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal, and help in identifying your own job-related development and training needs.
• To ensure that all The Passage policies and procedures are being adhered to, particularly those relating to Code of Practice and Confidentiality.
• To contribute to the effective implementation of The Passage's Diversity and Equality Policy as it affects both The Passage and its work with vulnerable adults.
• To at all times undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of The Passage.

Desired experience

• Experience of delivering support services to socially excluded clients in a residential or similar setting.
• Experience of housing management in a residential or similar setting including oversight of health and safety, maintenance, finance, rota and other housing management related tasks and responsibilities.
• Experience of line managing and supervising staff or volunteers.
• Experience of working within a team and achieving strong and effective relationships with others in order to achieve organisational aims and objectives.
• Experience of building and developing effective relationships with a vulnerable, disadvantaged or excluded client group.
• Liaising with and co-ordinating the work of several individuals and/or agencies to achieve effective outcomes.

Desired knowledge

• Knowledge of homelessness, understanding of the varied needs of homeless people and those at acute risk of homelessness.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, and the implications of this in the working environment.
• Knowledge of requirements of Supporting People and psychologically informed ways of working within a residential setting.
• An understanding of the range of approaches and methods appropriate for working with a difficult to engage or multiply disadvantaged client group and a willingness to 'think outside the box' to support clients to meet their needs and aspirations.
• An understanding and experience of working with people from different cultural backgrounds.
• An understanding of the needs and support requirements of vulnerable clients living independently on low (or no) incomes, including of the issues involved in monitoring rent payments and dealing effectively with arrears.
