Salary £13.45 per hour 5 hours per week minimum Mobile General Catering Assistant Blackburn with Darwen Fixed term until December 2026

Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals per day. We are looking for committed individuals to join the service.

You will work as part of a team offering relief cover in schools in the Blackburn with Darwen and surrounding area, providing high-quality, healthy, balanced meals for school children.

• Prepare the dining area for service, including moving and setting up furniture and putting away equipment.
• Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages.
• Clean all equipment and catering areas.

• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative.
• Good customer care skills.
• Previous catering and food preparation experience desirable.

Monday to Friday, term time only.

5 hours per week minimum, 1 hour per day guaranteed. Hours are variable depending on school meal uptake.

This position is part-time; the salary quoted is full-time equivalent. The salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.
