Mobile App Developer

This role will involve working with working with external App developers, taking over the support, maintenance and enhancement of the Apps developed by external developers

Purpose of Job: To design, develop and manage Mobile Apps

Key activities:

• Acting as the hands on Manager responsible for iOS and Android development, working closely with external developers/agencies
• Optimise the App for performance and ensure code reusability across multiple platform
• Develop Native and Hybrid Apps using Xamarin, HTML5, CSS, WebAPIs and other web technologies
• Working closely with rest of the Digital technical and Digital marketing team
• Work with Project managers in a scrum team
• Understand and support across the entire app life cycle -concept, design, build, deploy, test, crowd test, release to app stores and support
• Keep up to date on the latest industry trends in the mobile technologies and IoT
• Co-ordinate with API developers to deliver secure and performant Apps
• Define and adhere to agreed Apps standards

Required experience:

• A proven track record in delivering complex cross platform mobile Apps
• Published examples of mobile applications on the App store or the Android market
• Experience of REST and SOAP Web Services
• Involvement across the full project life cycle (to successful deployment)
• Experience with agile project delivery including TDD and CI

Desirable attributes: Ideally candidates would have:

• Experience in Xamarin is desirable but not mandatory
• Worked in a Scrum team
• Experience of delivering enterprise Apps
• Industry experience in travel & hospitality, insurance and/or membership organisations
• Understands and implemented OAuth
• Self-starter that demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision
