Job ID: Amazon UK Services Ltd. Position to be based only in Rochester (UK). This role focuses on those who have military experience and/or are military spouses/children interested in working in the private sector. Amazon's military recruiting team is available to discuss opportunities within Amazon. Amazon Operations supports the customer experience from purchase to delivery, across Europe with numerous Fulfillment Centers and Delivery Stations. Working in Amazon Operations is dynamic and customer-focused, with a culture of safety, inclusion, and teamwork. The Reliability Maintenance Engineering team maintains and optimizes technologies in the Global Amazon Warehouse & Delivery Network.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: We are looking for motivated, customer-focused people who want to join our team as a Reliability Maintenance Engineering Manager. The Reliability Maintenance Engineering Manager is the site lead for all Engineering matters within a building. They are responsible for leading their team, fostering a safety culture, ensuring statutory compliance, providing high equipment availability to the General Manager, and collaborating with the EU Engineering team on future growth. They may participate in network-wide improvement initiatives and implement standards from elsewhere in the network. This role includes travel about 15%.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead the team, own the annual reporting responsibilities for the team and mentor their direct reports who in turn develop the technicians within the team.
  • Work with the site Safety department & Site Leadership to implement, record and audit safety and statutory compliance programs to provide a safe working environment for all staff. Own the legal responsibilities as the site engineering lead within this framework.
  • Work with the recruitment team to ensure allocated headcount is filled with high quality experienced staff. This may include support to Apprentice and Graduate programs.
  • Implement standards validated by the EU Engineering team and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to create or update standards as required to provide high levels of safety and equipment availability to internal customers. Focus on preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain equipment failure contingency plans, coordinate rehearsals with affected parties and be prepared to work flexibly to ensure failures or breakdowns are rectified quickly.
  • Maintain a long-term focus by working with Site Management, Finance, the EU Engineering team and internal design teams to plan for future growth, upgrades or new equipment roll outs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree, or experience at Amazon
  • Proven experience in Engineering Facilities Management
  • Strong direct People Management experience: experience in employee and performance management
  • Experience in maintenance/reliability
  • Experience with Cost Control and Budgeting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in design review process to incorporate electrical, mechanical, automation controls solutions to drive equipment reliability and standards
  • Experience in automated conveyors systems and controls, electrical and electronic principles, blueprint and electrical schematic reading, CMMS programs, preventive maintenance procedures, industrial electrical, industrial controls, industrial electronics
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with Six Sigma/Lean techniques
