Maternity Services are provided over three sites and we offer women and staff a range of birthing environments: home, freestanding birth centre, alongside birth centre, and obstetric labour ward.
The Prince Charles Site level 2 has undergone major refurbishment in 2019. We provide care to women in our obstetric unit and have an alongside midwifery led unit. We now have three birthing pools, a bereavement room and an enhanced environment for both women and staff.
Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend is a Level 2 maternity unit offering low risk women the option to labour and birth in our alongside midwifery led room, the Bluebell Suite, and the newly refurbished birthing pool. Our obstetric services support women requiring increased surveillance during labour.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to cover maternity leave. If you are interested in applying for it as a secondment, please obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying.

Welsh Language SkillsWelsh language skills are desirable but not essential. We consider Level 3 (CEFR B2) speaking & listening as an advantage when short listing and selecting candidates.

The Health Board operates various shift systems. The most common are a 12 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30 minute unpaid breaks. Shift patterns may be reviewed, and the Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. We are committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions.
Person Specification Registration- UK NMC Registered
- Ability to undertake perineal suturing
- Ability to undertake IV cannulation
- Previous community experience
- Welsh language skills speaking/listening Level 3 or above
