Middle/Senior Java Engineer

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Middle/Senior Java Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Poland. Our client is one of the largest food retailers in the world, operating thousands of stores in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe. The company operates through multi-format stores and online. It operates stores in various formats differentiated by size and range of products sold, including large, small, dotcom only, and one-stop. They offer fresh food, drinks, bakery, grocery, home and entertainment products, baby products, clothing, household appliances, frozen food, pets, health and beauty products, consumer electronics, and electrical goods. It also provides consultancy, retail banking, and insurance services. The company was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Welwyn Garden City, the UK.

The hybrid mode of work includes 2-3 days/week at the Krakow office (this is essential as the role involves working with other team members).

Requirements:

• 4-5 years of professional experience delivering Java-based software solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and familiarity with frameworks like Spring WebFlux.
• Proven experience working with microservice architectures.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm for container orchestration and deployment.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of the Azure platform.
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban).
• Experience using collaboration and tracking tools like Zendesk and JIRA.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with ArgoCD and OpenText.
• Knowledge of AWS or Google Cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, xMatters, or NewRelic (training will be provided).

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based software solutions using modern frameworks such as Spring Boot and Spring WebFlux.
• Build and deploy microservices architectures to meet scalability and performance requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL-based databases (PostgreSQL).
• Deploy, manage, and monitor workloads in Kubernetes environments, utilizing Helm for package management.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and ArgoCD.
• Integrate with and leverage cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Write clean, readable, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban).
• Utilize monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, xMatters, or NewRelic to ensure system reliability (training provided if needed).
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Work with tools such as Zendesk and JIRA for tracking and support purposes.
