Job Description

If you're an experienced Microbiology Manager who has already proven you can lead a sizeable team, influence senior stakeholders and operate confidently in a highly regulated pharma environment, this could be your next move.

I'm working with a leading pharmaceutical organisation in Galway that is looking for a Microbiology Manager to take ownership of a critical laboratory function and lead a substantial technical team.

This isn't a role for someone looking to simply manage the day-to-day lab.

It's an opportunity to lead people, shape the function and influence the wider manufacturing and quality organisation.

What you'll be responsible for:
  • Leading and developing a sizeable microbiology team - 10+ direct reports
  • Owning microbiological testing activities supporting product quality and release
  • Driving GMP, GLP, data integrity, safety and regulatory compliance
  • Leading environmental monitoring, microbial control and contamination-control activities
  • Preparing the function for audits and regulatory inspections
  • Partnering with senior leaders across Quality, Manufacturing, Analytical and Regulatory
  • Managing resources, capacity, budgets and laboratory priorities
  • Driving Lean, 6S and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Developing people, succession plans and technical capability within the team
  • Providing microbiology input into wider business and regulatory programmes
What will make you stand out?
  • 8+ years' pharmaceutical microbiology / quality experience
  • Strong experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
  • Proven people leadership experience, ideally managing large teams.
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic processing and environmental monitoring
  • Experience with microbial control and/or isolator technology
  • Comfortable leading through audits, inspections and investigations
  • Commercially and operationally minded, with experience of resource planning and budgets
  • A leader who genuinely enjoys building high-performing teams and developing people
Why consider it?

Because this is a genuine opportunity to step into a high-impact microbiology leadership role with significant ownership, visibility and influence.

If you're currently a Microbiology Manager, Senior Microbiology Manager, QC Microbiology Leader or similar - and you're open to hearing about something that could represent a meaningful step forward - I'd be very happy to have a confidential conversation.
