Job Overview

Mental Health Practitioner - Salary: £38,907 (depending on experience), Permanent, Full Time (40 hours), Location: North West Region (Manchester, Lancashire, Warrington areas).

Cambian Group, the UK's largest provider of specialist services in children's residential care, education, mental health rehabilitation and learning disabilities, is looking for a dedicated individual to join the company as a Mental Health Practitioner.

Role Overview

Embed a trauma informed approach across our complex care and community residential services, working with young people displaying social, emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.

Provide specialist assessments and formulate and implement therapeutic intervention plans to embed trauma informed approaches aligned with current evidence based practice.

Responsibilities
  • Provide therapeutic services to young people placed within community residential settings, spending most of your time in the field.
  • Assessment and planning of children and young people's needs, including therapeutic intervention, management, and supporting them in school and home settings to address trauma.
  • Ensure timely support to enable young people to make safe, confident and independent decisions in the future.
  • Assess and mitigate risk, identify needs and deliver consultation, training and reflective practice to young people and staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout all services.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Stay updated through clinical supervision, peer support, training and ongoing professional development.
Candidate Profile
  • Registered with a relevant professional organisation (HCPC, NMC, BACP).
  • A higher level qualification in counselling, therapeutic support, psychotherapy, social work or nursing.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people in a therapeutic or counselling setting.
  • Experience using a consultation model/approaches.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to plan and implement therapeutic and trauma informed approaches.
  • Understanding of reflective practice, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, and the complex needs of vulnerable young people.
  • Ability to work under pressure, remain calm in stressful situations, and make autonomous decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain clear boundaries in professional responsibilities.
  • Passionate about working with vulnerable, at risk young people.
  • Non judgemental, empathetic attitude.
  • Willingness to undertake all training relevant to the role.
  • Full clean driving licence; willingness to travel across the county.
  • Benefits: Prior experience with Looked After Children (LAC) is advantageous, completion of a trauma informed practitioner diploma, CAMHS experience, and interest in ongoing development of Cambian Group.
