Job Description

Due to our team expanding, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic andconscientious Medical Receptionist with excellent communication skills to join our friendlypractice team.

We will consider Full time/part time/job share.

Will also include cover for enhanced access, Wednesday evenings, occasional Saturday andoccasional 8:00pm finish on a Friday.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintainand monitor the practice appointment system
  • Process telephone and e-requests for appointments
  • Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately.
  • Signpostpatients to the correct service
  • Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies
  • Correspondence Management on SystmOne.
  • Photocopydocumentation as required
  • Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired
  • Inputdata into patients healthcare records as necessary
  • Directrequests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLAforms to the administrative team
  • Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner
  • Carryout system searches as requested
  • Monitorand maintain the reception area and notice boards
  • Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested
  • Invites for chronic disease recalls
About us

Brig Royd Surgery are looking to appoint a highlymotivated, enthusiastic, flexible, resourceful and experienced Medical Receptionist.

The ideal candidate would be a team player who wouldthrive on being part of a growing and busy practice with the enthusiasm to playa key part in our plans for the future.

Our current clinical team comprises of 5 GP Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 2 ANPs, 2 Practice nurses, 2 Health Care Assistants, and supportteams.

With a list size of approximately 10,500, we are a highachieving QOF practice based in purpose built surroundings, CQC rated good.

Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by membersof the practice administration team may include any or all of the items in thefollowing list. Duties may be variedfrom time to time under the direction of the reception manager/practice managerdependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:

  • Receivingand routing patients on arrival and departure.
  • Processingpersonal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephoneconsultations and ensuring callers are directed to the correct healthcareprofessional.
  • Processing,Scanning and distribution of incoming (and outgoing) mail in setprocedures.
  • Effectivetaking of messages and passing on information following practiceprocedures.
  • Processingrepeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.
  • Computerdata entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recordinginformation in accordance with practice procedures
  • Initiatingcontact with and responding to requests from patients, other team membersand associated healthcare agencies and providers.
  • Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointment system.
  • Filingand retrieving paperwork.
  • Retrieving/filingmedical records when needed by a doctor or nurse.
  • Receivingand sorting new patient records for summary (using practice guidelines)for summary by the notes summariser.

Any other duties, which may, from time to time, bedeemed necessary.
