Medical Receptionist

We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our team. This is a part-time position of 19 hours per week, worked over two full days. Flexibility is essential, as the role will also involve providing cover for staff sickness and holidays when required.
The salary will be in line with the minimum living wage. In addition, we offer a range of benefits including five weeks paid holiday (pro rata), a staff uniform, and membership of the NHS Pension Scheme.

Main duties of the job- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system.
- Process personal, telephone and e requests for appointments.
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers' request appropriately.
- Signpost patients to the correct service.
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members and external agencies.
- Photocopy documentation as required.
- Input data into the patients health care records as necessary.
- Direct requests for information such as SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the appropriate person.
- Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
We are a small, friendly team consisting of three GPs, two nurses, a Healthcare Assistant (HCA), alongside a supportive management and administrative team. Our main surgery is located in the village of Lymm, Cheshire, with a branch surgery in nearby Grappenhall.
Qualifications- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above).
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Clear, polite telephone manner.
- Competent in the use of Office and Outlook.
- Effective time management (planning & organising).
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Problem solving & analytical skills.
- Ability to follow policy and procedure.
- Experience of working with the general public.
- Experience of administrative duties.
- Experience of working in a health care setting.
- Experience of working with the general public and knowledge of computers is essential.
- Experience of working in a primary care or care setting.
