We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Mechanical Project Engineer to join our delivery team on a high-value data centre project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the engineering, coordination, and technical delivery of mechanical systems across the site, supporting both construction and commissioning phases.
Responsibilities- Assist in planning and managing the mechanical scope of works, including HVAC, chilled water, DX systems, pipework, ductwork, and fire protection systems.
- Provide technical input to design development, coordination, and clash detection processes (e.g. BIM/3D models).
- Review design drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
- Support procurement processes by reviewing technical submissions and managing material/equipment approvals.
- Coordinate mechanical activities on site with subcontractors, consultants, and other disciplines (e.g., electrical, civil).
- Monitor progress, quality, and installation standards; raise and resolve technical queries (RFIs) where required.
- Assist with commissioning planning and execution, including systems start-up and integration testing.
- Ensure documentation is accurate and up to date, including as-builts, red-line drawings, and O&M manuals.
- Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance across all activities.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- 3-7+ years' experience in mechanical project engineering on large-scale construction projects; data centre or mission-critical facility experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical building systems and coordination in complex environments.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and best practices (e.g., ASHRAE, CIBSE, local building regs).
- Experience working with BIM and coordination software (e.g., Navisworks, Revit) is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
- Knowledge of commissioning processes, QA/QC procedures, and project lifecycle management.
