The Role:

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining production equipment and supporting efficient manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs and equipment overhauls across a busy production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Respond to breakdowns and equipment failures, identifying root causes and restoring production safely.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults using appropriate inspection and testing techniques.
  • Maintain and repair production machinery including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, shafts, valves, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Complete machinery strip-downs, repairs, overhauls and reassembly.
  • Replace and tension belts, chains, couplings and drive components.
  • Carry out bearing replacement, alignment and lubrication activities.
  • Support planned shutdowns and major maintenance projects.

Criteria:

  • Completed a Modern Engineering Apprenticeship or possess 5+ years' relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safe systems of work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
  • Proven fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and planning skills.
  • Flexibility to provide call-out support when required.
