Our client is a highly regarded and established business operating within the precast manufacturing sector. Their modern, highly automated facilities utilise state-of-the-art technology and BIM-orientated processes. They are now seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their team on a long-term basis, working within a busy and modern manufacturing facility in Oranmore, Co. Galway.

About Your New Job

As a Maintenance Fitter, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of plant equipment and machinery. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, servicing, fault-finding and repairs while helping to minimise downtime and maintain a safe working environment.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out routine maintenance and servicing of plant equipment and machinery.
• Developing and implementing a plant-wide preventative maintenance programme.
• Diagnosing mechanical breakdowns and carrying out effective repairs.
• Identifying potential equipment issues and taking proactive measures to prevent breakdowns.
• Scheduling periodic testing of safety equipment and maintaining accurate records.
• Recycling and re-using parts and materials where possible.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Working closely with production and maintenance teams to minimise plant downtime.
• Following all company Health & Safety policies, procedures, systems and rules.
• Reporting hazards, incidents and equipment defects promptly.
• Working safely and demonstrating a lead-by-example approach to Health & Safety at all times.

What Skills You Need

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A time-served trade qualification in a mechanical discipline.
• A minimum of 2 years' relevant industry experience.
• Previous experience working within a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience carrying out preventative and routine maintenance.
• Good attention to detail and a precise, methodical approach to your work.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to breakdowns.
• A strong understanding of Health & Safety practices within an industrial environment.
• Good communication skills and a reliable, professional approach to work.
