Mechanical engineer as systems engineer/design engineer in defence shipbuilding (m/f/d) - English version

The 'Design: Mechanical Engineering' department at NVL covers several disciplines:

• The 'Drive Systems, Manoeuvring Systems' group deals with the development of drive concepts.
• The 'Engine Room, Coordination' group is responsible for the installation of engine rooms and adjacent technical rooms.
• The 'Ship Operating Systems' group is responsible for the design of various pipe systems and associated equipment.

Your tasks at a glance:

• In shipbuilding, successful interaction between the various trades is essential. Your important role here is the holistic management, coordination and supervision of the design of assemblies.
• It goes without saying that you will accompany the procurement process, construction, testing and
• handover of the systems and equipment from a technical perspective and will therefore be involved in every phase of the project.
• Your key to success: effective cooperation with other design departments, manufacturing trades, subcontractors and customers - across locations and national borders.
• Last but not least, you will manage the flow of information and coordination with neighbouring coordinators and system owners within the department as well as with other departments.

• Completed degree in mechanical engineering, marine engineering, supply engineering, plant engineering or a comparable course of study, alternatively further training as a technician
• Several years of experience, ideally many years, in a comparable position
• You are able to answer technical questions confidently in English
• Confident use of MS Office, 3D CAD systems (preferably Siemens NX) and product lifecycle management systems (Siemens Teamcenter)
• Confidence - even in turbulent times - and a wealth of ideas when it comes to finding solutions
• Organisational skills, quick comprehension and enjoyment of familiarising yourself with new topics and driving continuous improvement as a communicative team player
• Willingness to travel occasionally (approx. 5%)
