Mechanical Design Engineer

1to1 Group is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team in Basingstoke! The successful candidate will have a passion for creating and a knowledge of all steps in the design and production process. This is a stand alone position, so ability to work on your own initiative is essential.

Role Details

• Up to £37,000 per annum.
• Basingstoke.
• Permanent.
• Full time, Monday to Thursday 7:30am 4:30pm, Friday 7:30am 3pm.

Role Responsibilities

• Using design software to develop models and drawings of new and current products whilst ensuring safety, performance and regulatory standards are met.
• Develop presales drawings where required to accompany customer quotations.
• Assess all engineering drawings/prototypes and specifications to determine issues or risks.
• Work alongside the production team to ensure all designs are cost effective and meet all requirements and to support queries.
• Oversee the change request process for continual improvement of products and processes.
• Modify and refine drawings as required to ensure they meet the required specifications.
• Analyse data to support the design and production process.
• Be responsible for research and/or calculations for customers and suppliers seeking component system solutions.
• Build quality into the design process to reduce costs and waste.
• Develop best practice processes such as PDR, DDR and DFMEA.
• Manage timelines and deliverables for design projects.
• Advocate for and work to ISO, H&S and quality standards.

Role Requirements

• At least 1 year experience in a similar position with a relevant qualification (e.g., an HNC level apprenticeship).
• Demonstrable mechanical design engineering background.
• Experience with 3D design packages (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
• Ideally knowledge of quality and best practice engineering processes.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
