Mechanical Craft Team Member

An opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Craft Team Member to join a busy Cranes & Lifting maintenance team at a large industrial manufacturing site in Llanwern, Newport.

This is a hands on role responsible for maintaining and repairing lifting equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The successful candidate will work in a safety critical environment and contribute to maintaining high operational standards while supporting a collaborative and safety focused team.

The role also provides opportunities to support team leadership and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, fault finding, and repair work on lifting equipment.

• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with safety procedures and risk assessments.

• Support safe and efficient plant operations through high quality maintenance practices.

• Assist the Team Leader in planning maintenance work and coordinating resources.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records using internal maintenance management systems.

• Provide on the job coaching and support to other team members where required.

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across the department.

• Deputise for the Area Team Leader when required.

Requirements

• Time served Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.

• Proven experience working on lifting equipment maintenance.

• Knowledge of PUWER and LOLER regulations.

• Ability to work at height and in safety critical environments.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Basic IT skills and experience managing maintenance activities.

Desirable

• Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.

• Experience in EOT crane maintenance.

• Demonstrated involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
